Tire Patch Assembly Prep System

A manufacturer of truck tire patches required a system for cutting up to 8” widths of unvulcanized rubber to manufacture their patches. The unvulcanized rubber was extremely “gummy” and presented an obstacle in establishing clean cuts. Creative Automation designed and manufactured an automated eight-channel “cut-to-length” system with independently settable channels. A specialized sheer assembly was used to cut the fed length of rubber and deposited them onto a conveyor belt.

Abrasive Disc Life Test System

A manufacturer of abrasive wheels required a test system for life testing abrasive discs. Creative Automation designed and fabricated a versatile test cell that enabled testing the sanding discs under a multitude of force, angle and speed conditions. By monitoring parameters such as spindle torque, the rate of disc attrition was recorded.

Fuel Pump Test Stand

A manufacturer of pumps required a test stand for testing large fuel pumps under simulated operating conditions. Creative Automation designed and fabricated a pump test stand using a servo motor drive for powering the pump. A series of pressure and flow sensors were used to measure the pump’s output, flow and pressure. A mechanical clamping fixture was provided with quick-acting clamps to secure the unit under test, reducing typical test cycle time to under two minutes.

Air Bag Component Deburr and Inspection Station

A manufacturer of air bag components needed to deburr parts made from a screw machine operation. The deburring process required the clean removal of a parting mark and the chamfering of a drilled hole. The production required the processing of 45 parts/minute. Our automated solution was a turret indexing, second op machining system. Parts are automatically fed into the machine and offloaded after the process is complete, while the operator simply has to maintain a sufficient supply of components to the supply hopper.

Vibration Isolator Damper Prep System

A manufacturer of heavy-duty vibration isolators required a method for taking rolls of stainless-steel wire mesh and convoluting it to make their vibration isolators. The mesh could be anywhere in width from 1″ to 12″. Creative Automation designed and manufactured a reel-to-reel system to automatically feed and crimp wire mesh. The crimp roll configuration was developed to achieve a specified amount of convolution without breaking wires in the mesh.

Automatic Riveting System for Automotive Switch Plates

Creative designed and fabricated a 4-station automated assembly system that includes two riveting stations to handle different sizes of rivets. The goal was to streamline the assembly of pressure sensors and connector plates at a rate requirement of two complete assemblies per minute with integrated automatic processing.

Automatic Quartz Crystal Loading System

A manufacturer of quartz crystals needed an automated assembly system for precisely placing crystals into carriers. A slow and delicate process, the client required a special purpose machine capable of substantially increasing production speed while maintaining absolute quality and consistency.
