Automated Canister Drilling and Tapping System

An aerospace manufacturer required the precise drilling and tapping of 176, 10-32 holes in a multi-component assembly. Their current method of manufacturing was to fixture the components and use a combination of a CNC mill and special drill presses. Production time was 80 minutes per assembly. Creative Automation designed and fabricated a custom 26-spindle drilling and tapping system, substantially reducing production cycle time to under 10 minutes.

Tube Forming System

A manufacturer of swimming pool heaters had a unique requirement to form finned copper tubing for use in a heat exchanger. In addition to forming, the copper finned areas and ends of the tube could not be distorted. Creative Automation designed and fabricated a special multi-axis hydraulic forming system to automatically perform the complex operation.

Automatic Transfer Mold System

A safety products company needed a means of attaching tie points onto elastic bands to hold respirator masks. While the elastic material was readily available, their present method of cutting strips and manually attaching molded ends was labor intensive. Creative Automation designed and fabricated a process to precisely feed and index the elastic band through an automatic molding machine.

Specializing in the production of jet engine cones, the client needed to improve their process for machining large titanium components that reached sizes up to 60″ in diameter and 84″ long. Their current process required 4 weeks of machining time to produce each assembly. Our innovative solution improved processing time by 500%.
